Masnytsya or Butter Week, is one of the oldest Slavic holiday, which celebrates during the last week before Great Lent.
It has its origins in the pagan tradition.
In Slavic mythology, Masnytsya is a sun-festival, personified by the ancient God Veles and a celebration of the imminent end of the winter.
So, Spring is coming! 🙂 Let’s celebrate it! 🙂
Last time I cooked Mlyntsi (Thin Pancakes) a year ago in Kyiv.
So, here in Stockholm it`s first homemade Pancakes 🙂
You can find a lot of different recipes in the internet, with bananas, cocoa, without milk etc. I used most general and popular one in Ukraine.
milk, flour, eggs, sugar, salt and butter (or seed oil).
First one! 🙂
For pancake fillings, I used 2 types:
– chicken, mushrooms and cheese;
– cream cheese, caviar (or salmon), avocado.
And finally done 🙂
